Alpha Bravo Charlie: The Military Alphabet, by Chris L. Demarest

Rating: 4/5

Rating: 4/5

In this picture book for ages 4-8, children learn about the International Communications Alphabet (ICA) used in the military.

After each letter is identified at the top of the page, there is an image showcasing parts of military life, followed by a brief description of events at the bottom, where the highlighted letter is used.

Kids will enjoy reading about the different types of military operations. There are some images, however, that are a bit somber and depict memorials for soldiers lost at war, but the book retains a good balance of interesting information and probable consequences of battle.
